SimCity -> Micropolis

I wasn’t expecting this: SimCity has been open sourced and changed into Micropolis.

Before anyone gets too excited, note that it says SimCity and not SimCity 2000.  This is the original beast.

It’s available here if you want to try it.  I don’t think it’s ready to run for Windows, though.  I’ll wait until it hits the Gentoo Portage.

Now, when will they open source Little Computer People (the original Sims)?

    Really glad that this has happened, still a very good game (even though SC2000 is IMO the best). Should be interesting to see what the open source community does with this though.

    I’d certainly like to see that, myself. I wonder if anyone else is thinking of open sourcing their older games.

    I know they had a sort of editor available for it, but I’d also like to see Interplay’s Fallout opened up and with a better editor.
